Got a 798 for Christmas from my mother -in-law. Didnt get the nav bundle because others have said it was better to get the cards. Now it looks like I have to buy the Nav card anyways as there is no lakemaster chips compatable. Only the Nav chips which is the same as the pre installed bundle right? Am I missing something here?

Smoker,
The nav bundle is Navionics 2006 data only. You will be better served with the 2009 Navionics Hotmaps North chip which covers South Dakota, North Dakota, Wisconsin, MN, Iowa and Michigan.

Thats what I figured after a little research, but thought they may have updated the 2009 to a newer map set. Guess it doesnt matter because I didnt get it anyways. I will get the 2009 premium north chip. I also found out the Platinum is only compatible with the 997 and 1197 in the si series anyways. And to JohnnieLund, yes she is one of the good ones, she also gets the employee discount but it still cost her 599 plus tax. I may do a 997 next year, with her discount , hard not to.

What can I say , she loves me I guess. She also bought me the line-x when I got my new chevy crew last year and it wasnt even my birthday or christmas. Her sister died a few years back and I flew to California with her because my wife and two brother-in-laws couldnt go. No family out there , just us.Guess she feels she owes me even though I tell her not to buy me anything, spend it on the grandkids.
