Mark in Mn offered up a good topic in asking for favorite walleye spots. As a former walleye guy who has converted more to bass fishing, I would be interested in hearing some areas that people who chase bass prefer. I'm not looking to steal anyone's spots, just some general ideas. We have outstanding bass action here in western Minnesota with Lake Minnewaska, the Alex chain and a whole host of other smaller bodies of water. Minnewaska is a favorite because it has largemouth and smallmouth in good numbers, plus the average size of the fish is good as well.
What are some other areas people prefer??

I've had the good fortune to fish in some of the southern states where bass are the big deal. They may catch bigger bass there, but the fishing in the Midwest for bass is so good. Favorites are too numerous to mention, but here are some wonderful bass memories.
Have had exceptional success on smallmouth below the dam in International Falls. Caught lots of big ones there one day with Ron Lindner, another day with John Peterson.
Had a memorable day on Rainy Lake with Toad Smith.
Caught big largemouth in the shallows on Leech Lake with Ron Lindner and John Crane.
Caught smallmouth with Barry Day on Chequamegon Bay.
Lots of trips to the backwaters of the Mississippi River around Wabasha were memorable for smalllmouth and largemouth. Loren Waalkens and John Stears were the brains behind some of those trips, others were back in the early 80's with groups of outdoor writers.
Great days in the Bemdiji area with Duane, John, Travis and Craig Peterson.
Lots of really good days with Mike Frisch in the Alexandria area.
Several outstanding smallmouth days on West Lake Okoblji with Barry Day and Jim McDonnell.
A memorable day in the Park Rapids area with Al Lindner back in the Camp Fish days. This was before bass got as popular in Minnesota.
I'm looking forward to smallmouth action on Mille Lacs and Sturgeon Bay.
If you don't want to fish for bass in the Midwest, that's ok, but you're really missing out on some outstanding action.
