Pool 9 walleye are starting to heat up a bit, Ice by Genoa dam is very iffy at best, Ice has been good at Dresbach Dam for a couple of weeks but don't assume it still is the day you come... be careful.. Best presentations still seems to be either Jigging Rap or wolf river rig, not much even out of the current on tip-ups. Quite a few side channels and current brushed frozen bays and sloughs have active fish in them.

I caught a 17 inch plus saugeye last night and took it home as my one fish to eat. The stomach had a 4 inch shiner, and three other shiners in it, all of which were digested to different degrees...just in case any of us think of the fish are finicky lite eaters in these constant waves of coldfronts that keep passing through it appeared that that fish had eaten frequently for about 24 hours???

I always hesitate to mention those backwater areas and side cjhannel areas ... I have fished these waters for 50 years and it is an aquired skill to understand how to fish safe ice and avoid deadly ice, so use EXTREEME Caution if you try these areas. I witnessed one area lose 3 inches of ice depth over night this week.. a lot more figures into it than just temps. I am aware of numerous fall throughs this year and fortunately none has taken a life, three of which were veteran ice anglers who got careless.
