I have the 2003 Pike with a dual console I bought new. I have the 150 Opti and an 8 hp kicker. I upgraded my original 65 pound trolling motor to an 80 so that I could still move forward in very strong winds on Lake of the Woods.
The rig is stable, reliable, and well laid out. Gobs of room for 2 adults, very comfortable for 3.
Top speed WOT with full tank of gas, full live well, 2 adults, and way too much gear is 48-49. Lighten the load to 2 adults, keep 1/4 of tank of gas, empty the live well, keep about 25 pounds of fishing gear, and top speed on a 60-degree day is 51 mph (50.5 into a slight wind and 51.5 coming back with that slight wind). I run my boat at about 3500 rpm which is about 30-32 mph.
The high sides are a plus and a minus. The plus is that you are very safe fishing 2 and 3 footers. The minus is the wind that creates those 2 and 3 footers will push you around pretty fast.
Coming back in those 3 footers is an experience in surfing -- power up the oncoming side of the wave, take off power on the back side of the wave, and keep the engine trimmed down all the way to keep the nose up. I haven't speared a wave yet.
Ride is smooth for a tin boat even in a pretty good chop. In 2-footers any boat is gonna be rough.

I have a 2006 Mr. Pike, with the Yamaha 115 and T-8 plus the 80 pound trolling motor. I use it for bluegilling on smaller inland lakes and perching and trolling in Lake Michigan, jigging for walleyes in the Detroit River and also trolling in Lake Erie. I pinch myself every time I use it. I really enjoy it. The dealer I bought it from is great which certainly helps.
Nice boat.

I have the 07 18' Mr. pike but I have a 115 Mercury 4 stroke on it. I really like mine, it handles 3 – 4 foot waves real good never had it in anything bigger yet just got it last year. It has lots of room and storage compared to my old 17 tracker. I have a 70lb front electric and the 70lbs seems to do real good. I love the sport track system for mounting rod holders and other items on it which saves you from having to drill holes on the boat! I also use mine to pull the kids on the tube.

i have a 18ft pike with 150 opti and 9.9 prokicker. i am able to get 48-52 depending on load, i run a laser 2 21pitch prop. i can fish three guys with out it being crowded, the boat will handle rough water with out a problem, the ride is nice but can get a little wet if you hit a wave wrong.

I have a 2007 Mr. pike 17 Rapala Edition w/ a 135 Opti-Max & a 80# Minn Kota PD. I get between 48-51 with two people, gear, empty livewells & 1/2 tank of gas. The hole shot is excellent and I am extremely pleased with it. I hate seeing it sitting idle in the garage and can't wait for spring. I added an extra console, upgraded the HP from a 115 Opti and added the bimini top (wife wanted that). Will be getting into pulling a tube this summer for my daughter & her friends. Can't say enough good things about my rig.

I've been watching this post, and have to chuckle - what will a Lund Mr Pike (they WILL come back) look like in the year 2038? My 1978 Mr Pike Deluxe doesn't really resemble the two and three year old models that you guys are comparing, but it is a testament to the quality of build that the Lund legacy has been built upon. Go for it, fishinforfun - I hope you enjoy yours as long as I have mine!!!

Hey, I resent that!!!! Mine is a 2003. It is SIX years old!!!! Don't put it in with those new-fangled 2 and 3-year-old boats!

Congrats on your 31-year-old. And, yes, I bet it does NOT look anything like those young ones.

 Boats, HRG, Boats!
Talking about how older BOATS look different than newer BOATS. How older and more tried and true and trustworthy BOATS look more reliable and treasured than those shinier newer BOATS that catch a fisherman's eye ... especially in some of the glossier BOAT ads.
Just boats. Really and truly. (This needs to be ABSOLUTELY clarified just in case my older and more tried and true and trustworthy WIFE reads this post and becomes confused and concerned that I might be looking for a newer shinier BOAT  .)

I have the 1986 16' Mr Pike, I bought from a women who's husband passed away. I paid 800 dollars for it. I had it this summer on a lake with 5 ft waves and it was scary but we made it back to the boat ramp at the end of the day.
