HI There,

I am new to posting here, but I read stuff all the time & really enjoy some of the stuff, but now I have a question.

I have been running a lcx15 for a few years now with a lakemaster card, & A humminbird on the bow. I am thinking about a vexilar edge for the bow & keeping the lcx15 just for the gps & lake maps. Does anyone have an opinion on the lcx15 gps accuracy, I have never had trouble with it & I really don't want to buy another sonar/gps cause I like the features of the edge.

The other question is the color edge that much better then the monochrome model? There is quite a difference in price.

Thanks,
Lance

I bought the Edge in monochrome to replace a color X510c that I didn`t like due to shallow water issues.
I really like the Vexilar graph.
Most people say, go color. I think monochrome is just as good without having to run the back light all the time.
Mono to me is easier to see in the sunlight.

My LCX15mt is pretty accuracy so far. I always compare it with my Bow unit (EagleStrike2000c) as I mark my spot at the same time. Unless they are both off......which I don't think so.

I have an Edge 3 and I say go color. The Edge has various color settings so sunlight is not an issue, it is very bright. The big feature you get with the 3 is the bottom hardness indicator which works really good and well worth the additional $. I agree that for marking high riding fish the mono is just as good.

Thanks for the replies,
Is the bottom hardness indicator a big deal if I already have a vexilar FL-10 flasher? I have never had a color unit it looks neat, but is it really the better way to go?
Thanks

If you have a flasher, then the hardness indicator would not be a big deal. Most people don't have flashers so the hardness indicator can help them.

I never believed in color either, the Edge 3 is my first and I have really grown to like it. IMO it does help distinguish targets.

The color units are a little quicker for me to read. I can see the bottom hardness easier.

I can't see keeping the X 15 for GPS only. It's accurate, I've never really seen a GPS that isn't accurate. But the high definition maps we have available, in large part, don't run on the X 15.

IMO, it's a question of compatibility with HD mapping cards, and the X15 isn't it.
