Ok guys. I know this is the Fishing The Midwest site and that this might start some controversy. However, I watched Bob's show this weekend and was very impressed once again. I feel he does a great job of hi-lighting areas here in the Midwest and showing how to catch fish in that particular area without getting overly technical. Plus, he really does show more than just the fishing, but places to stay and other attractions as well. Bob's show is my favorite, how do some of the rest of you feel??

Good list - like all of those. Fishing the Midwest is the one I look forward to most, with Jason Mitchell Outdoors a close second. I also like Infisherman and Lindner's Angling Edge.

I hate to admit it, and I doubt I would ever travel to Wisconsin to fish, but I also like John Gillespie's Wisconsin Woods and Waters. My wife cringes at the sound of his voice!

Gillespie does have a good show if he would keep his mouth shut. It ruins the show. Bob has a good informative show. I like most except the bass fishing.

One of the best ever was Outdoor Encounters with Kevin Gerry and Deb. Even my cat liked watching the moose run across the screen at the begininng.

That is putting it mildly:rotfl:

Waters and Woods for the fact that they air the show the same week that they fish. It is a great way to find a guide in WI.

John is just dorky entertainment.

Where/when can I find Fishing the Midwest on Comcast in Geneva IL?

You should be able to get us on Fox Sports North at 11:30 Saturdays on any cable carrier in WI. Also, we're on WGBA in Green Bay on Sundays at 10:00 a.m.

We'll be fishing on the Chippewa Flowage near Hayward this weekend.

Thanks for your interest.

I agree with Hump Outdoor Encounters with Kevin Geary and Debra Johannsen was great. That was my first exposure to Canadian Fishing. Kevin opened a Canadian Camp called Anglers Kingdom; friends went their in August and kicked butt. I also love the American Sportsman episodes with Curt Gowdy and Ted Williams

Midwest Outdoors
Angling Edge

Good old Virgil Ward - we could all probably sing that theme song! He was a hoot in his last few years on the air - describing those twelve inch bass as "three pounders." It was fun watching him get visibly upset when his partner in the back of the boat was outfishing him. That said, it was a show I looked forward to every week.

My favorite fishing tackle/boat commercial is Fishing the Midwest. (lol)

Bob does a great job, he explains things very well. I do watch some of the others that have been mentioned if I get time, but I make it a point to watch Bob every week. My wife even likes watching, where she wont give the others the time of day.

Fishing the Midwest is a good show, very informative and usually lakes that are more local. The Lindner boys still put on the best show, always showing good ways to catch fish.
In Fisherman is starting to get sickening. Does Doug Stange fish with anything other than a swimbait?
I really don't mind many other shows, but if we could get rid of John Gillespie and Butch Furtman, sat and sun AM would be much better

:funnypost:

I couldn't agree more on the swimbait comment!!! Seriously, I don't know where he fishes, but if I throw a 3/4 oz. jig with a 6" swim bait, I'm probably going to be snagged...constantly.

If one was listening to Butch Furtman from another room, when he hooks a fish, one might get the mistaken impression that he is in the throws of intimacy ("ooooh, that's a nice one....oooooh....oooooh...."). Seriously, just take that 13.5" fish off your hook and get on with it.

Can't comment on Fishing the Midwest, my cable does not get that channel. My favorite is Time on the Water, with Frank Hyla, then Gilispe.

I watched Babe Winkleman this morning for the first time in a long time. Now I remember why I quit watching it. That guy is just flat out rude to his guests. The last time I watched it, he was catching walleyes that couldn't have been over 18". Every time he would lift one (by the fishing line) over the side of the boat, he'd say "there's another five pounder".

I always watch Lindner's Angling Edge, In Fisherman, which I had the opportunity to fish and film with them for four days last summer, and The Next Bite.

I know there's nothing like fishing a huge missouri lake or one of those over stocked farm ponds, but there is a show on Versus Country called Urban Fishing that i am addicted to. The guy fishes inside the city limits of major cities such as Washington DC, Chicago, etc. It's just a way cool concept!

We only get 3 fishing shows on my basic cable.

I like Angling Edge the best as an instructional show. Lots of great tips and tactics usually packed into 30 minutes. I could, however, live without knowing how to fish California reseviors and catfish.

Bob does a great job sharing what I really like about fishing; enjoying the outdoors and having fun with family and friends. He balances well the need to promote sponsors with tactics & tips with the recreational dimension of fishing.

Of the 3, I rank Midwest Outdoors fourth; neither informative nor pleasurable just a freaking infomercial.
