View Full Version : How do the new-style center rod lockers work?

I was looking at the rod locker on the Ranger 620. When a rod is placed in the tube and then rested in the cradle at the back, what prevents it from sliding forward and bouncing around once you are under way? To owners of this type storage - do you ever open it up to find your rods have slid forward and rod butts are not supported?
It seemed to me that the rods would really bounce around in rough seas. Thanks in advance to all who reply.

I have been running a 619 for 2 years now and i have not had any problems. When you are moving foward the rods are forced back if at all. Also the stretch strap that goes over the rod butts keeps them from moving. Hope that helps.

One more thing the rod box in the 620 prior to 2002 was shallow because the gas tank was up front. Now with tank in the floor the center box is much deeper.
