I was wondering if anyone here has been to or heard of any news on this lake? A friend and I were thinking about going there to chase lakers next weekend and wanted to know if there's slush issues like there is on Saganaga.

Are you going to be using snowmobiles or walking? If you aren't already aware snowmibiles are not allowed in the BWCA. The one exception is the corridor to the Canadian side on SAG. The forest service really watches for violations. Make SURE if you do use a snowmobile you know where the bounderies are. Your best bet is to check with one of the outfitters in that area. I've fished the area for about 20 years and there are lots of regualtions you have to comply with. If you understand the regs it's not much of an issue. If you don't it just may cost you a chunk of change. The forest service usually will not cut much if any slack. They do patrol the area on a fairly regular basis.

Thanks wally- I do know the regs, we'll just be walking out from the landing as far as I understand. I talked to a friend who was on Sag and he said the slush was horrible and he had to have his sled pinned just to make it to the winter portage. I'm just concerned that we'll make that long trip just to be buried in slush and water. I've been to several other sites and can't find much up-to-date info on conditions and was hoping someone here would know.

I talked to a friend who has a cabin on Gull lake. He was up a little over a week ago and said the slush was really bad on Gull and from what he has heard all of the lakes have lots of slush.
