Just bought my first boat the guy has the tranducer mounted on the same side as the transom mount trolling motor which would be the left side if looking from back of boat. Should i move it to other side because of turbulance?

Check out the turbulance first if you have water.(I don't -10 this am) It's the turbulance before the transducer, not after. You might want to check out level and foreward pitch while you're on dry land.

First, I'd try the transom-mount trolling motor on each side of the transom to determine where you prefer it. Unless that is bolted in place, it's easier to experiment with the trolling motor. My kicker engine is on the "left" side of the boat, because I hold the rod in my right hand, the tiller in my left.
Since I have a dual transducer depthfinder on my console, and another flasher at the stern, I have transducers near my kicker engine. The only time turbulence is a problem is when I turn the kicker to back up to the left. Turbulence is also a problem with my bow mount depthfinder when I turn the bowmounted electric troller to reverse. Neither situation arises al that often, so I can live with that minor problem.
So, if possible, move anything that isn't bolted in place before unscrewing stuff and drilling more holes. Due to changing depthfinders over the years, and trying different transducer locations (I picked a couple really bad spots), my transom has 14 screw holes near the bottom. You don't need that many.
