Hi
Most everyone (author included) waited in anticipation of this week's warm-up - a veritable guarantee that the bite would pick up soon! While we STILL wait for the onslaught, the bite on Mille Lacs limps on. The "portable people" are still picking up a handful of walleye on the mud flats (Greg's, 9-mile and the north end of the 8) on the slope. Dark colored rattle spoons (Hawger spoon, Rattlin' Flyer and Buckshot) tipped with a fathead have been OK to pick off the aggressive fish, but the passive ones prefer a simple teardrop with a whole minnow. There has been a bit of a perch bite southwest of Doe Island in the deeper water. Small Pimples (green, yellow) tipped with Euro's are the best combo here. Look for the perch bite to peak in about a month - this is merely a "flash" on the radar. We often stress how important mobility is... this week is no different. Waiting for the fish to come to you often results in frustration and disappointment.
The "shiner drama" continues to be a pain for anglers statewide. The calls and emails made by a handful of concerned folks last week got the attention of a few of the legislative "players", but the volume/number of contacts was weak compared to the number they're looking for. Thanks to those who took the time to call or write. There's still a chance to voice your opinion - the contacts and their numbers and addresses can be found in the article on our website at http://www.lundeens.com/bulletinboard.html . Thanks again for your help.

Don't forget to check out our weekly "shop special" at http://www.lundeens.com/shop.html .
Once again this winter we will be renting FL20’s, power augers and underwater cameras. Be sure to reserve them ahead to assure availability.
Finally, A Texas Oil Tycoon and an Alaskan Oil Tycoon were debating on which state had the most oil. The Alaskan Oil Tycoon said, "Listen, there is so much oil in Alaska that I could buy enough gold to build a wall of solid gold 100 feet tall and 100 feet wide all the way around the state of Texas". The Texas Oil Tycoon scratched his chin and adjusted his cowboy hat and said, "Well boy, I'll tell ya what....you just go ahead and build that wall, and if I like it.......I'll buy it".
Have a great weekend,
