I was at the Mpls boat show last night and was told Lowrance is going to be releasing their own version of side imaging! They said it is going to knock your socks off. I can't wait to see it

They first need to find a sonar that can accurately and consistently lock onto the bottom!! Sorry about the sarcasm but I have two units less than 3 years old and all attempts at upgraded software fails to function properly. I have called tech support and get no where. I keep reloading old software to make them actually work.
Sounds like a neat but another expensive option from Lowrance. Let's hope they improve their R and D so the product improves.
My next unit will be with the original side finding company, Humminbird.

New transducers solved my problem, now I love them. A friend of mine had problems with a 111 and he removed the upgraded software and now no problems. I would love to see someone make a side imaging high def unit that doesnt show the screens on there side. I like to glance at the screen not stare.

It's not a side imaging, it's a 3D map. I played with one there and when zoomed in close the 3D changes back to 2D with just contour lines. I don't see much of an advantage to this mapping.

I hear they are going to unveil it at the bass master classic. Im excited to see what they have, I've been told it is stuff that was designed for the navy so it should be good. also humminbird isn't the original, simrad actually holds the patent on SI which is a sister company of Lowrance. So I would guess that every unit that Hummingbird makes is a direct infringement on that patent. The next year will be interesting.
