illuminated power switch

i am using a illuminated on-off switch to secure power to my new x26. i have only been able to hook it up and have the switch stay illuminated all the time. is there a way to hook it up and have it illuminate when the switch is on and not when the switch is off? my gps/sonar units are hard wired direct to the battery, so using the boats master switch is not a option. thanks for the help...................tom fellegy

Tom,
Try reversing the wires. You may have the "hot" lead to the terminal that also lights the bulb. By reversing the leads, the bulb should not light until the circuit is closed.

i got it figured out. it was a bad switch. the new unit is up and working
