How often do you use a portable sonar, and what do you look for in one.

Size, power options, flasher or graph, color or monochrome,....ect..

Is a portable sonar part of your electronics options and if so why.

Curious?

Hi Ed, when I go portable, I just use my vex or marcum all set up on an ice box and buy an open water transducer and a clamp on bracket, and I am good to go, when I bring my jon boat up to Stu"s thats what I have been using. by the way have you ever tried Lake Winnipeg in the winter? Stu has me all fired up about those big greenbacks!

I use my Vex packs too for situations were a flexible use sonar is needed. We have developed a few tricks for this, especially on fall river walleyes.

Yup I go as often as I can wiggle free, the lake is HOT! And it is going to get a lot Hot'r too. The Red continues to produce monsters on a daily basis, the river up there is heavy with sumo eyes this season. It has been preaty crazy.

I'll be headed back up as soon as I catch up a bit, in a couple weeks.
