Hey guys, I was wondering if anybody makes something that attaches to an ATV or if there is info on how to make something to keep your ATV afloat. I put many ice miles on a big reservoir every year and so far I have been lucky. That extra sense of security would sure make those long runs a lot more fun. Any info would be greatly appreciated.....

adding vanilla ice cream would make an ATV float.

It doesn't appear that either one of those options would be legal in Dane Co WI. The Dane Co
SO examples look very unhandy. For other places I think I would like the inflatable units. But it would take a big unit to float all the crap I haul out on the ice. lol

Not sure about the Amphibear kit.
But I do know that Wilcraft meets the Dane Co WI requirements.

I know of two individuals that have gone through the ice on ATV's and each time the ATV has floated. These were stock units with normal tires.

If it's not required by law to add more floatation...yes the stock tires should float your atv. Might be upside down, but it'll float.

I was out on early ice a couple years ago, I ran across a guy that had a 10' 2x4 bolted across the front and back racks. He had some homemade brackets for easy on/off. He claimed if he does go through it will keep his machine upright. Made sense...I guess. My machine was stock, I wasn't worried.

I've swamped my machines once or twice, not in the winter but...each one floated, one had stock tires, the other had 28's.

I was going to say the same.
I sold Yamahas for many years.
My customers who went thru all said their atv floated.

Kinda funny...but not.

During the Madison fishing Expo I talked with the Dane county sheriffs booth and they have a new inflatable flotation device that is Dane County approved for ATV's and snowmobiles. You attach a heavy strap to the frame and then it attaches to front or rear rack with Velcro straps, when you get in trouble you pull the D ring and it inflates. It will support a snowmobile and 3 people.

I think rootbeer would make it Float. If it were ice creme it would just sit there.
