Hi

Fishing on Mille Lacs has been on the slower side so far this week - I think anglers statewide are looking forward to the end of consistently sub-zero temperatures. Hopefully, a warm-up like the one forecasted for this weekend will be just the spark those fish need. Most of the fish we've seen since the weekend have come from the mudflats in 23-25 feet of water. The prime time periods around daylight and dark host much of the bite. Work the flats with a small rattle spoon (Blue Fox Flash, Lindy Rattle Spoon, Hawger Spoon) tipped with a piece of a fathead. Top colors are blue and yellow. Some of the better spots this week include 8-mile, Buster's and Blue Jug flat. Mobility is a must. A few northern are starting to show up on the main lake - some of these "cruisers" will sit under a fish house until the right jig wobbles down the hole, then WHAM! Lots of 4-5 inch perch continue to plague Mille Lacs anglers - look to the deeper gravel to improve your odds.

Once again this winter we will be renting FL20’s, power augers and underwater cameras. Be sure to reserve them ahead to assure availability.

Finally, Ole and Sven had really 'packed on the pounds' by over-eating during Christmas and the New Year's Holidays, so their doctor put them on the same diet. 'I want you to eat regularly for 2 days, then skip a day, and repeat this procedure for 2 weeks. The next time I see you, you should have lost at least 5 pounds. When the Norwegians returned, they shocked their doctor by having lost nearly 25 POUNDS each. 'Why, that's positively
amazing!' the doctor said. 'Did you follow my instructions?' Then Ole and Sven nodded and said. . . . . . 'We vant to tell you though, we taut we was gonna drop dead dat 3rd day.' 'From hunger, you mean?'.. . . 'No, yust from all dat skippin'!

Have a great weekend,
