It has been six long months since the world stood still. Far away we watch your glorious country mourn, adjust and rebuild. The attacks did not serve to defeat your spirit, as it was intended, but fortified your bonds and commitment to one another. It has been a defining moment for the history as well as future of your country, and a moment that has forever changed how we view the world. As bystanders we no longer question the necessity of pre-emptive action and can no longer take solace in the fact that tyranny exists far away in distant lands.
I personally mourned your country's losses and could not watch the events unfold without a real emotional reaction. While we disagree on minor things in life, we are staunchly behind you in your resolve to rid the world of terrorism.
Since the attacks I have had a greater appreciation for things that I hold dear. Freedom, family, and of course, fishing.
No one, and I mean NO ONE will take these things from me as long as I have a breath left in my lungs.
May your God bless you and keep you safe, wherever you may be.

just watched the special on CBS. i still feel sick whenever i watch that whole ordeal. it's hard to think that in some countries, civil wars are going on and that kind of mass destruction is happening often. i am so ##### glad to be an american. i also am thankful that we have such EXCELLENT neighbors to the north.

Just watched the special too, pretty moving. I donated blood while on active duty on 9-11 that seemed to be all I could do. I volenteered for a six month tour in Bosnia to give other soldiers a break. I'll keep up with you guys on the computer and will order a new boat to arrive before opener when I get home 2003.

Thank you for the kind words bigfish. Looking back at the past 6 mos I am overwhelmed with pride to be an American. At the same time I am grateful to those nations who stood arm-in-arm with us in our time of need.

I may be a lifelong Democrat, but I cannot say enough good things about Geo W Bush and the outstanding leadership he has demonstrated throughout this ordeal. He is a decent and honest man who makes good on his promises. Who will ever forget his first speech following the attack. One of my favorite lines was, "We will make no distinctions between the terrorists and those that harbor them". It still gives me goose bumps.

I couldn't help, but to read your message. Indeed the world is now an entirely different place to live... It matters not where evil resides for it has been presented to us on our front door step. Although there are plenty of bad people with ill will towards the USA and people of differing nationalities and colors, it is truly inspiring to hear comments such as yours... My trade allows me to see the good and bad things in this world and reflect on them... My conclusion is that bad things happen to good people and it is how those who are challenged endure that makes them good human beings. The bad people can simple go to #####....

As a Canadian I feel ashamed of our government's, and it's ministers comments and actions since that fateful day. Our Finance Minister Paul Martin, said that there will be money available to ensure the security of all Canadians. Then the Minister of Industrial Affairs, a Brian Tobin, commented that this government will not become a one agenda government. Then our Prime Minister Jean Chretien, visits Washington, doesn't even pay his respects at Ground Zero, for a Liberal party fundraiser dinner was more important. I am ashamed that members of our government question the handling of al quieda in Cuba. I am ashamed that we cannot send our own troops over by our own means, we have to hitch a ride. I am ashamed of our government, but I am proud of my country that is providing 4 destroyers and 2 supply ships to help guard the flank of one of your carrier groups. I am proud of our Joint Task Force 2, a commando team, being in Afghanistan since November. I am proud that the PPCLI (first battalion I believe) is over in Kandahar with the 101st. I am proud that we as a country stand with you, but I am ashamed of our government.

Without us in this position, who would buy the OIL? Who would buy the FOOD? What would happen if we fell? What the heck would they all do without our money?HMMMMMMM??? Dont 't worry,we'll be there, and that include's Israel.

Who do you think is watching the lengthy Canadian-US border to assure that Al Qaida is not moving something across the border that we don't want to think about in our worst nightmares? If you ever, I mean EVER, see something suspicious, call the authorities of that region. There will never, I mean NEVER, be more agents than there are of us civilians to protect our countries.

No terrorists will ever again lead a plane-load of passengers to slaughter like cattle if the passengers unite & hold their own at whatever sacrifice. "Let's roll!"

Our Canadian colleague, Bigfish1965, is exquisite in his comments to start this post. Thank you. We are in a new world. A new war. I'm a Democrat at heart, but take Bush's comment to heart, "This is a war against EVIL!"

I was very pleased to read in the paper this AM that a 21-year-old soldier in Operation Anaconda said something like this, "I'm glad that I can be here to help assure everyone in America (this includes all free countries) that they can feel safe."

How are the Taliban & Al Qaida rodents doing since they're facing our trained, armed forces and not killing innocent women, children, and stockbrokers in the WTC towers? Give them another cruise missile or thermobaric bomb or two for me in their rat's nest cave clusters. They are a maniacal, demented, misguided, force to be erased before they do even greater damage here or in Toronto or in London or in Sydney or in LA or in?? You get the idea.
