Greetings,

I'm looking at picking up a used (4 times) Minn Kota Terrova 80 lb. 24 volt from a fellow in town later today. He says it has the auto-pilot, but couldn't figure out how to use it, but he's pretty sure that it has it.

My question is - even though the foot pedal has the Auto Pilot switch on it, and there's a light on the main unit, does this necessarily indicate that it has the Auto Pilot??? I imagine Minn Kota just made them all the same, and even the Terrova's without the Auto Pilot just have blank buttons/lights.

Is there any way to tell for sure without disassembling the motor???

(I'm supposed to pick it up in a hour - hoping for a speedy reply *cross fingers*)

Thanks!!!

The upper left botton on the foot control activates the auto pilot. The botton will be there even if the motor does not have auto pilot. But, I believe the auto pilot lLED botton should light up if the auto pliot works.

As always, buyer beware.

Hook it up to 24 volts and see if it works. Just hold the motor resting on a bench that is high enough and turn on the auto pilot. Then move the motor left and right. The head and motor should correct it self if the auto pilot is working. IMO

PS: By the way I have a 80# Terrova AP and love it! Good Luck

I gave Minn Kota a quick call before I left to pick it up, because the motor is off the boat and ready for pickup (no batteries close by). Took the cover off the top and had a look for the compass and circuit board - sure enough it was there clear as day.

Needless to say I bought the motor - can't wait to give 'er a test run! Too bad there's almost 4 ft. of ice....
