I read post everyday regarding the winter blues. Going to all the outdoor shows and watching fishing programs just makes it worse. I have a solution for thoughs of you who have a dog. I have a 9 month old lab who wants to do nothing but play and eat. So what I like to do is tie on a practice plug or an old sock and cast it across the living room(when the wifes not home of course) and my lab goes nuts. Let me tell you, that is a wonderful feeling to see that rod bend over and that line ripping off the spool. You can almost garantee a hit every cast and my dog loves it. I like to use my 6'6" hvy lighting rod, abu garcia bait caster, 8# triline(ultra sensetive of course), and a white sock with chartruse stripes. Socks works much better then a practice plug, the set is better and if the dog decides to spit out the plug with any tension on the line, you had better duck. I hope this helps cure some of you it sure helped me. Now does anyone know where I can get a nice lab replica mount? Sincerely, ADO

ADO, just don't let the dog get in the habit of chasing everything you throw with the rod. A real lure with hooks is not the thing to fetch.

I did that when my labs were pups also. Now I have two dogs that dive out of the boat every time i reel in a plug. Wished I would have stuck to playing with socks. lol!

Friend of mine started taken "dog dog" out fishin'. He slip-bobbers alot. The dog stands on the gunwail and watches those bobbers intensely until....one sinks. Then out the boat, "dog dog" goes, to go find the bobber. "dog dog" stays at home now, on 'bobber' days.
Now German Shorthairs....they know when to hunt and when to sunbathe.lol
