Last week, I asked about favorite walleye fishing methods and had some interesting and informative responses. As a guy who also chases bass, I am interested as to what methods anglers prefer to catch largemouth and smallmouth bass. I have a small local lake loaded with brown bass and the smallies there are very susceptible to tubes. As for largemouth, I love pitchin' and flippin' Jungle Jigs to reeds, around docks, and along cut-banks. In addition, a few years ago I spent several days on Leech Lake preparing for and fishing a tournament and had a blast fishing the rice with topwater frogs and spoons. We caught lots of bass on those baits, but also caught several that "blew up" but didn't get hooked by pitching a tube or jig back to the area where the fish was. That was my first experienc fishing rice and I loved it!
What are some of your favorite bassin' experiences??

For really big SM Bass you cann't beat a 5 inch perch on a large hook, worked very slowlly of rocks in the Fall.

I really enjoy fishing smallies with a slip bobber and leech. The kid in me still enjoys watching that bobber go under. When fishing smallies on the beds we enjoy using a split shot, hook and a piece of worm, drop it right on the bed and watch that fish pick it up and swim away. We always try to keep it simple.

Thank you,

I also fish the wild rice with jaw breaker spoons and a secret plastic trailer. Awesome fun when they blow up on a bait. That is my favorite. Number two is casting salmo hornets to weedlines from 4 to 12 feet deep (pick the right hornet). Number three is the jigmorm, simple and effective. Number four is the tube jig (always reliable). Number five is a spinner bait drug through cabbage weeds on a clear minnesota lake (you will be surprised at the bonus pike and even walleye). My brother uses live bait and slip bobbers and does extremely well for very nice bass.
