I am looking for a lake in the US that has the same type of scenery as Canada and similar type of fishing. Looking for a good walleye, pike, smally lake. Any lake trout would be a plus.

Several suggestions.
In Minnesota, consider Kabetogama and Rainy Lake. Go to our Main Page, click on Favorite Destinations, there is an article there regarding Rainy Lake.
Rainy is an outstanding walleye and smallmouth lake, also really good crappies, pike, and muskies.
I've only fished for walleyes on Kab, have done very well there. Real wilderness feel.
In Wisconsin, the Chippewa Flowage has the wilderness feel. Fished there last June, very good for walleyes and crappies. The Chip is the home of several record muskies, also has sm and lm bass. If you want to escape the wilderness feel for a few hours, Hayward is just a few minutes away.
Let us know where you decide to go.

Hi ILScott, I totally agree with Mr. Jenson on his lake suggestions. Any of the border areas and lakes will have similar topography and fish species. Voyageurs National Park has a very similar feel to Canada. I have fished many places in the Midwest and enjoy any time on the water. I must say I have been fishing Canada every year for many years and IMHO nothing I have found compares. Please do not take that the wrong way. The upper Midwest is absolutely gorgeous. I fished the Orr Minnesota area recently and experienced some great Smallmouth Bass fishing but could not buy a walleye. When it was all said and done the savings was questionable. My free time is very limited and very precious and I like to make the most of the experience. I cannot remember when I had a 150 fish day, saw a bear, wolf or moose and the Northern lights all on a single trip to the upper Midwest. I have on many Canadian trips. I am a Midwest guy like you in fact spent many a weekend in my younger days at NIU. I guess it is all in what you want and expect in a trip. Canadian trips have become very affordable in comparison and can deliver a lot. I read this thread because like you I have been searching for that silver bullet also. Maybe one day. I only can use an old saying in response "is it real or Memorex"
Thank you
