Just purchased a 1992 1890 Pro-V Tiller with a 1996 Mercury 90 elpto. Took it out and it ran 31mph with three guys in the boat. At wide open throttle it was 5800rpms. What is the max rpm for this motor? I was thinking about a new prop to hopefully get a few mph, but I need to know max rpm's first. Prop suggestions would also be welcomed.

If that's a 2-stoke 3 cylinder Merc 90-horse and your tach is accurate, you want a different prop. WOT rpm range for that motor in my literature is 5000-5500 rpm, so it is over-reving at 5800. You need more prop pitch to limit WOT rpm to 5500 with just 1 person in the boat.
I had that same boat set up years ago and ran 36mph with a 18p SS prop with 2 people and full livewells and gear. Hope this helps.

Ran out in the garage and checked right on the motor. Mine is the same '96 90hp elpto Merc. Max rpm is 5500 as was stated above.
Mine will run close to 39mph WOT alone with med. load. I'd guess mine would run similar to yours for speed with three aboard with normal load. 35mph +/- with 2 aboard.
I run it on a single console '97 Sylvan Pro select; light hull 900# +/-. SS prop.

Just went and checked the prop thats on there...the numbers were 2034 15. I'm guessing its a 15" pitch prop, but not sure what the 2034 means. I'm running 5800 rpms and previous post indicate I should be between 5000 and 5500. I'm leaning towards aluminum. What prop do you suggest?

Find a vendor who'll let you try a 19 and return it for a different prop if it is not the right pitch.

Called Propman last night and I think we're going to try a 17p 4 blade Aluminium Solas.
