The three big auto companies have put a number on their sales being down, I would be interested in how it looks for say Ranger, Lund, Skeeter, etc.

Thanks

Many retailers report sales down nearly 35 percent in some sectors, including power boats and outboard boats longer than 17 feet

For many dealers the percentage is 100%.
i.e. they have gone bankrupt due to slow sales.

Take care

The Miami Boat Show opened today.
For this year only, Dealers are allowed to fill their booths with up to 50% of left over 2008 boats. This 50% percentage is unheard of. This is a staggering amount of not brand new 2009 boats, which has never happened before at this show.
But dealers have a bunch of 2008 inventory that they have to get rid of.

From the outdoor sports section of our local paper today: US overall boat sales were down 28% in 2008 and outboard sportfishing boat sales fell 40%. The source quoted was the Bellweather Report from Info-link Technologies.

I'd have patience, things aren't going to get better overnight and another 6 months of holding old inventory will give dealers a little more incentive to move - it's coming. Cash will be king and that statement could never be more true in a recession.

The Miami Beach Boat Show attendance was off 26%.
It's hard to confirm, but supposedly fishing boats that were over $100,000 sold as well as last year.
These $100,000 + boats were mostly fiberglass center console boats in the 26'-28' range with twin outboards
( each engine was 200-250 hp.)
But sales were down for the less expensive fishing boats.
