Does anyone know if these will survive and propagate in a small but well oxygenated pond?

RickK,
The person you want to contact is Fred Snyder from Ohio Sea Grant. He has studies that have been done on this subject. Below is his e-mail address.

RickK - if you contact Mr. Snyder and it's not in-convenient, could you please forward his response to me or a brief rundown on the reproductive stuff and average life expectancy? Just curious.
I have a 1/2 doz emeralds that have been in a 55 gal tank for a yr. I've kept them several times in the past for two or more yrs. I usually have trouble initially introducing them into the tank mostly because of ammonia tox. in the minnow bucket as I increase the water temp to match the tank. After that, they are fine, they grow fast & can handle some pretty warm temps so you could definitely keep them in a pond.
My common shiners make babies, but I've never seen evidence of any reproductive activity with the emeralds so I'm curious about what trips their trigger. I've been unsucessful in finding much detailed info on the net.
