I was reviewing a post in the fishing reports section and noted the thoughts on networking in the MWC - Spring Valley Post, kind of a blind post on where to catch fish. Like that is going to happen. But it made me wonder about how, why and politics of networking. Do you network? What do you think of networking? What are politics of your network? When do you provide help to others outside of your network? Do you have a financial arrangement with the others? Anonymous posts expected.....(one case where you can hide if you are afraid of reputation questions)

I will anty up. I network with others when I fish tournaments. Others in my network have earned my trust though experiences of fishing with and against them. If someone is let into the network they have to prove themselves by not giving away information and providing good information. They are quickly kicked out if information is given to other networks or individuals that are not agreed upon by consentaneous. Usually the network will have a group norm to be able to give away information after the tourney. Unless someone in the network has another tournament on the same body of water in the near future - or guides. As for financial arrangement with the others, I have no finanicial arrangement the others in my network other then we cheer real loud for them at weigh in - hopefully to cash checks.

I have enough trouble comunicating with the other person in my boat much less other boats!!! But serously, I share some info with trusted friends. Been that way for a long time. I know of others that have contracts in their network. Good for them. Doesn't bother me a bit. When we do well it makes it more enjoyable. Besides when you split the prize to many ways it might not be worth it.
