My son and i are planning our first fishing trip in many years in Nortern Minnesota. We plan to go May 5th. We are considering Red Lake, Leech Lake or Rainy Lake. Do you know if walleye season is open May 5th? We need lodging and a guide. Any suggestions?
Thanks for any help!

Walleye and pike opener is the 11th of May. I have no personal info on guides but I'm sure someone can help you out. Have a great time!

Contact the Leech Lake Guide Coalition at 218-547-3212. Lots of resorts on Leech but you better not wait too much longer for opener weekend lodging.

Red Lake is closed to Walleye fishing, at least it has been the past few years. Crappie fishing is fantastic, if you hit it right.
Rainy and Leech both have good walleye fishing, Rainy is more picturesque, more wilderness like.
