I have some GPS coordinates that are in UTM. I want to put them in my GPS. I know the GPS can take them once you change from degrees/minutes/seconds to UTM. I tried once and the waypoints that are in northern Minnesota ended up in North Dakota, LOL! When setting the GPS for UTM it asks for setting some other parameters. I don't recall what the names of these are right now, but I'm sure people who have used UTM know what I am talking about. What are the correct values for these parameters for Minnesota.

I'm guessing you have the UTM coordinates for the crappie cribs on Red lake. The extra numbers that you need for them is 15 U

I had to use Garmin's mapsource to convert that info to Lat/lon.

Your GPS has the conversion capabilities built right in.
Change the format on the GPS to nad-83 enter lat/long and then change
back to wgs-84. done.

The problem I was having is my GPS has 2 UTM formats. One is "UTM User Grid" and the other is "UTM UPS". I was trying to use the "UTM User Grid" which asks for input on 4 parameters, which I knew nothing about. The "UTM UPS" just needed the zone which is "15" and a "U" before the x-coordinate (latitude). These were provide by another post.

Universal Transverse Mercator. Just don't ask me what it means. :-)
