Here is a screenshot of the new Lowrance side imaging that will
work with any of the new HDS units.
This was posted on another site by "The Rivers Marine". They
are a marine electronics dealership.
That's all I know about the subject.

There was a Navico Sales Bulletin sent out to dealers and distributors with the image. The title of the bulletin was:
Lowrance to Add side-Viewing Sonar Option for HDS Models in 2009

I believe it will be on display this weekend at the Bass Master Classic and more information will be available later this year.

Cats out of the bag now on that Eh?

Ya I seen a few shot of the new side imagery a little while back... and it looks very good.

What I like is.... from what we were told then.... is it will be an upgradable function to the new units in time.

One would need the appropriate transducers and the update, and your off and looking sideways.

Should be interesting to see how it works out.

Are you 100% sure this is a 'Lowrance side scan image' screenshot an not from a Humminbird?
Someone is claiming this is a Humminbird shot ...

Who can tell us ..

Well respected company in retail electronics.
"Humminbird" fallout is to be expected.
Not really worth a debate.
There will be more shots in the very near future.

It is lowrance, I got the same bulletin they did. Plus there are many more to come. Lets just say the others are even better! I think its funny that people are going to say they are Humminbirds. I guess the true test will come when sales figures come out.

Basically, what you are seeing are sunken or flooded timber. Your boat it in the middle of the screen, the water collum is the darker portion until you start seeing the ground (if that makes sence) and everything else is what the side imaging picks up.

I have a humminbird and the screen shot looks very simmilar to the ones I get with my humminbird.

Maybe I'll get used to this side image stuff. Right now it's kinda like looking at ultrasounds of a fetus when everyone else points out the baby's fine features, and all you see is a big head with a small tail.

With either the Humminbird or the new Lowrance SI units do you need more than one transducer to get the SI? How about temp?

TIA, Jay
