I have a Lund Tyee 1850 I/O..with a troller plate I can get down to about 3 mph...how much slower can I expect with a 60 in. drift bag..will be using planner boards etc.

Get 2 smaller 24 inch drift socks and put them on the sides that wiil slow you down big time (1-2) The 60 incher trolled in the rear will get in the way. If you put that 60 incher on the side, your boat will try to turn to that side.

are you forward or back trolling?back trolling may stall you out on your lures, forward you maybe able to cut your speed in half.on sum lures it will not help to get that slow, deep divers work real well when you have the depth to do it.but floaters like the 18# rapalas slow speeds will not get them down enough.3 miles an hour is not a bad speed, there are times i wish i could get that low.you may try useing and s-pattern in your trolling it will alternate stalling and speeding up your trolling pattern.watch for the strikes on the stall and speed up.i often run a vibrateing blade a couple feet in front of my lures where i can, it makes a good attractant when you have long stretches to troll.good luck to you, longrifle

I say to get two smaller bags and use them on the side of your boat.I have a 20 ft searay with a v6 4.3 and run bags off the side,This slows me down to 1.5 at 800rpm and 2.0 at 1100.I also no longer have trouble with loading the engine after 4-6 hours of troling.I Tie mine on beside the windshield and they drag 2/3rd way back beside boat.No trouble with any lines getting tangled. Good fishin Rick boat (JUST HAVEN FUN)

You should be able to get down much slower than 3 mph by using a drift sock in conjunction with your trolling plate.
Some where in the neighborhood of 1mph.
Which will increase your fish catching potential by a wide margin.
Try using the Drift Control drift sock. I ahve had great success with this product!

I disagree. I use a 60 inch off the rear of my boat all of the time. It is one of the best ways I have found to use this boat control tool.

Jeff....what kind of bag were you using? If you have a problem with the bag getting in the way, you should take a good hard look at the Wavetamer. It has a float so it can be used a distance away from the boat, and stay out of the way. I usually run mine about 15' away from my boat, sometimes more. Plus they troll great. Good luck fishin' and keep your hooks sharp!!

Mongo, Hey thanks. That was back in the early 90s before I got a kicker motor.
