Hey guys and gals, quick question for all of you. I have an x-65 lowrance fish finder and can't get it to graph fish when the fish ID feature is off. It is suppose to show the fish in "raw" form in the shape of an upsidedown V instead of the fish shape. My dad and one of my friends has the same graph and their's work great, what is wrong with mine? I have tried adjusting the angle of the tranducer and all of the other things that the manual says. Any help at all would be greatly appreciated!

Thanks and Thank GOD (not in vain) Spring is almost here!!!!!!

First test would be to drop an object(a 2oz. weight, or a pliers or the like) directly below your transducer about ten ft. or more and see if something shows up on the screen. Do this in calm water with the boat completely standing still, to insure the object is in the cone. If nothing shows up, you've got problems. (make sure the unit is in manual mode, 75 percent sensitivity for this test.) Always run this unit and the like, in manual mode, 30-33 percent grayline, max chart speed, manually set upper and lower range so bottem is at or just below the middle of the screen when in the fishy area, 75 percent sensitivity. Turn off fish ID.
The arc (upside down V) will show up if you pass over a fish as you are moving, or if you are standing still, and the fish is moving.
A fish that stays under you, will show up as a straight line. The shape of the mark has no relevancy to a fish. As the fish is passed over or passes under you when you aren't moving, it goes from the outside of the cone to the middle of the cone and back to the outside of the cone, therefore marking a further distance from the transducer to closer to further away again, thus the arc shape. Or a straight line as it stays in the cone for a few seconds or even a minute. A piece of two by four will show up the same way as a fish will,in the same settings as described in the previous sentences.
Always run this unit or any unit, at the same settings so you get used to seeing and learning with consistency.

Just wanted to say thanks to Steve for replying and I will give that a try. Hard to believe that I never thought of putting something down there to test it, but oh well, I always knew I wasn't the smartest guy in the world!!!!! Thanks though, I was getting worried no one was going to answer.

Steve,
Will those settings work with an Eagle Ultra III Plus?

Yes, that is how I would set it up. I think the 'experts', P & K, would agree, I'm in the ballpark with these settings in manual mode.
