I have a jiffy stelth 10" auger and this weekend while out fishing I was drilling some holes and the next time I wanted to drill another hole I pulled the rope to start it and the auger would turn. Every time I pull it over the auger turns. Its like its always engaged. So when it was off i turned the auger by hand and you can hear like a metal on metal grind sort of What do you think the problem is and can i fix this myself

It sounds like you have some bad clutch springs and need to have them replaced.

Dacotah eye thanks for the response. That was the problem. Now the only problem I have now is finding a spring. I called jiffy and they quit selling just the spring 3 years ago. Talk about a rip off. The whole clutch part is 41 dollars and all i need is one spring. Do you have any suggestions on where to buy a spring for it?

I have read post from people on different forums saying that you have to buy the whole assembly. I believe I remember reading a post where a person said that you could buy springs, but you had to buy a whole set. You may want to give a repair shop that services augers a call. It may be your best bet for finding a single spring.

I had to replace mine this year. I was told that you cant just buy the spring. You have to buy everything. I was told its bigger and better unit...pfff whatever. I guess if I wanted to continue ice fishing I had to replace it, so thats what I did.
