My friends and I are heading up to Alexandria and Osakis for the weekend to do some ice fishing. We are from Iowa and we have Snoboat ice tents. Do we need to purchase a license for this type of shelter? Is this considered as a house by the MN DNR regulations?
Thank you.

Not sure what a snoboat ice tent is but if it is not left on the lake or unattended it is considered a portable and no shelter tag is required. YOu do have to have some Identification on the outside of the portable ie.......name....DL # . At least that is what the Game Warden told me back in January. Go to the MN DNR site to get the regs just to be sure. Have a great trip.

That is correct MN changed the portable shack rule, as long as it is not left unattended overnight you do not need a license.
