Just wondering if anyone has any info on what line works the best for making your own leaders? Someone told me vanish was good but now that i just read the post about it i dont think i will go there! Going to be in a walleye tournament this summer so i wanted to get a bunch tied up. Would like something that doesnt have much memory and is durable. Thanks

i have been using stren magna-thin, 8 # for a few years, although i have to re-tie after 5 or 6 fish, i like the diameter, and it seems to hold up well to clevis wear

I use Silver Thread, 10lb. for spinners and Silver Thread 6lb. for plain hook rigs.
I agree with mmillelacs. Magna Thin 8# is great.
I agree with Steves's comment.
ALthough I don't know if there is any particular brand required. I use a high quality - 6 lb line for plain hooks, and 10 lb line for spinners.
You choose the brand. After having quite a few line failures in many different kinds of florocarbon in these lb tests - I no longer use any florocarbon line in these lb weights. If you go to 14 lb and up - then I think that the florocarbon lines are just fine - as is evidenced by the great success of great lakes, as well as blue water fishermen using 14 lb to 300 lb test florocarbon line for leaders.
Take care

p.s.
Because of the nature of a plain hook - I generally use a 6 lb line that is relatively limp. This is to allow maximum action of the bait.
Conversely - because of the abrasion resistence required for a spinner line and the desire to avoid twists - I tend to go with a pretty stiff line for spinner rigs.
