Hi
The walleye season on Mille Lacs ended with a fizz - a few scattered fish were caught through the weekend, but we didn't see many "limits". The perch bite is improving slowly, but improving nonetheless. Most of the fish are being taken in the morning in 30+ feet of water. Bugs (waxies, Eurolarva and freshwater shrimp) on a small teardrop are turning most of the fish. Folks are finding some tullibee mixed in too. Some of the better areas so far this week include the "tullibee hole", Midget and Big Point. Some decent crappie are showing up in Isle bay too.
We received about 4 inches of snow so far today - if your fish house is still on the ice, be sure you bring a shovel... it's sure to drift with the wind! For Mille Lacs, the removal date for fish houses is midnight of the first Monday in March (3-2-2009).
The "new" angling licenses are on sale now. They go into effect March 1, 2009. Your "old" (2008) angling license is still valid until April 30, 2009. Remember, license sales are cash only - no "plastic cards" for license purchases.

Friday: Mostly sunny, with a high near 12. Wind chill values between -9 and -19. North northeast wind around 6 mph.
Friday Night: Mostly cloudy, with a low around -6. North wind around 5 mph becoming calm.
Saturday: Partly sunny, with a high near 18. East northeast wind at 7 mph becoming northwest.
Saturday Night: Partly cloudy, with a low around -4.
