It was a great day, 50 degrees, sunny, steady SSW wind at about 5-10mph. Unfortunately I did not catch a thing for my 6 hour, 12pm - 6pm, investment. The water was very merky almost muddy.
There were about two dozen fisherman there today, I could only determine that one fish was taken. about a 20 incher.
I jigged the trenton channel from the power plant down to the Huron river. I mark some fish and had one hit, it hit short I should of had a stinger.
I'm fishing tomarrow, 55 degrees, overcast, winds SSE 10-20mph, water merky, any suggestions??
Thanks,
Randy

Sounds like pullin wire weather!!!!
If you don't already have - get some of the northland rattle jigs, along with some of their rattle super glow jigs.
In the murky, muddy COLD water of spring - you need something to wake up and let the fish find your bait. The rattles and glow do exactly that.
The other option is to run wire, with a nicely vibrating crank bait - so that the fish can hone in on the vibration.
If the current is running strong; a 3 foot leader off a 3-10 oz weight - will sufice to allow the current to work the crank bait very effectivly in this strong flow.
Another option is the use of the 1/2-2oz shad dart jig. If you have never fished with one of these jigs, in heavy current; you are missing out on a wonderful fish getting opportunity. This jig was originally designed to catch shad - i think in the Delaware river. However, its use has spread to catch all fish species on all waters - that have a good current. The sharp angled front of this jig - causes it to "dart" in a most convincing way - that the Walleye find irresistable.
Again, these jigs in the glow and bright glow are great in the murky muddy waters of spring.
Take care and catch a bunch - but release a few as well.

When the mississippi gets muddy the majic trick for me is black 6" Berkley power lizards. No, I'm not joking either...try it, you may be pleasantly awakened to some real fun......When my buddy turned me on to this 3 years ago I thought he was smoking some funny stuff, but I'm now a convert and believer. Seems that in the dirty water the fish can find the bigger target easier or something. Oh, by the way. Hang on to your rod, they really hiy em' hard when they do. Good luck, and lets hear a report when you get back.

No real magic here, you gotta bop them on the head and hope they take notice! Its early yet. The strong SSE winds might help you out a little bit tomorrow boat control wise.. I agree with cnags...I just made a bunch of handline weights yesterday and probably will be pullin the boat out of storage this weekend.
By the way, what was the water temp?

Water temps under 40 degrees will keep them slow. He's right, bop them on the head to get them to bite.

Further north you go the more likely you are to get clearer water, watch your electronics for groups of smaller fish and stay on them for numbers. Some of the fish up river run down below the shad last ditch deal though the shad are almost always up in the column. But the larger walleye like wolfing them.
