...lots of ice in the GMR river water & coming over the dam today/sunday. The flow looked great as did the water color between the ice chunks.

The southshore of the main lake & old IL had shove ice from the north wind. Moundwood had just one banker & one boat at the mouth of the silt trap in mid-afternoon...

later Gators--

BTW -most of the eyes are caught w/in a 3 mile radius of Pew Isle ...I only use bait for panfish when the G'Kids visit...

Two weekends ago when the lake first thawed we were getting 20 to 30 fish a day with an average 16 inch size and some 18 inchers mixed in, these fish all came from the end of the Moundwood channel, then the lake froze again, it tawed last weeked and we could only managr ywo 14 inchers, it froze again on the !st of this month, will probably be friay the 6th before it is open again. hopefully thawed for good this time. Try the deepest water near current you can find, and you should be on fish.

Observation -the main Lake is still ice-covered today @ 1 PM along w/last weeks shove-ice still piled against the south shore... lots of water on the channel ice, but no sun-power today to speed up the thaw...

-the main lake is open today from Chippewa point & the Chippewa Channels/State Ramps have some shove-ice that should be gone by eve w/todays temps... BTW ~ Big Water w/todays winds & the spray from the waves 'krashin' the North shoreline will soak you some distance inland...
