Hey have any of you guys fished in Oklahoma? I am going down there in the middle of next month and was thinking of throwing a pole in the truck. I was wondering if there was any fishing available around oklahoma city? I have heard Arcadia and Hefner have some decent fishing but was wondering if anyone has any input? Thanks for the input in advance.

There is good bass fishing down towards the Texas border.

And then there is always catfish noodling. :muahaha:

Hefner, Arcadia, Thunderbird (south of OKC @ Norman) all have respectful quantities of eyes and other species. Middle of next monthe (April) will also mean the white bass runs in full swing as well as Hybrid Stripers. I could also suggest Carl Blackwell located at Stillwater, and Sooner, then there is Canton to throw in there as well. All within an hour or so's drive from OKC. If you want to really get a line stretched and a pole bent, spoonbill snagging will also be in full swing.

April, May & June are a fisherman's dream here in Oklahoma, but I will tell you that there are not too many "eye" fishermen to be found in the state so if that's what you come here for, finding good information can be difficult to say the least. Gimme a shout when it's closer to time for your trip and I should be able to lend you a hand in finding a place to wet and stretch a line. How long will you be in state when you come down??

If you intend to target walleye, Canton has a great late evening and night bite off the dam usually starting in March. It is easy to fish from the dam itself with good accessability. Hefner and some of the OKC area lakes may have similar bites although I'm not familar with them. There is also a couple of small lakes near Guthrie which is just north of Oklahoma City with good saugeye populations.
Good Luck!
