Try going out on the windiest, cloudiest day of the season.
The chop on the water make the fish less spooky.
Works for me.
We can get them on Erie in clear water with the use of in-line boards and cranks. Concentrate on seperation from the boat (let the boards out a good ways. (100' +/-) Good luck.

Try nightfishing, it will muddy up the clearest pool. Also you could try finding a windblown shoreline or the mouth of a feeder stream and give it a try. If that doesn't work, leave the boat at home and try from shore.

Try using live bait, light line, and deeper than usual spot's. The best day's are cloudy or moon-lit night's. Also try the colder water period's as they might be the best.Early in the morning, like sunrise, and long line trolling also are option's.Planer board's are also a way to get those bait's out to the side-oh don't forget to use natural color bait's too.A great senerio-Use a 3-way rig, with a Rapala, original style and troll it in the deep part of a slope at dawn. Also cast flat's in the spring for those pre-spawner's. Good Fishin' to you!
