Hi, were going to fish at Evert's Resort starting on March 15th. This will be our first time fishing the might Mississippi. I didn't know if anyone had tips on location for any species biting and what you use for bait. Also what is the main forage for fishing lock and dam 3?

I've only fished it a few times, but I have found this website to be helpful:

Good Luck

Talk to Dean at Everts resort. He is the most informed on the day to day bite activity. Also he can set you up with any gear you may need.

Fishing changes daily on pool 3,especially jig weight and color.A safe bet for tackle is a simple jig and minnow, ring worms and sonars.I'd wait until I got to Everetts to buy anything.Dean will have exactly what you need, alot of the jigs and plastics that work so well on the river are pretty tough to find away from the river.Good luck fishing.
