Just wondering what others thought about pumping crawlers up with air. I have buddies that swear it catches more fish. I thought it just helped keep the crawler off the bottom to prevent snags. I havn't used air but am always willing to try something new. Curious about you opinions.

Crawlers filled with air in shallow water do float IF you are going really slow. Otherwise the speed of the presentation "pulls" them lower in the water. Same thing with floats on spinners folks.

Crawlers filled with air in deep water simply have the air pushed back out of them because of the pressure of the water.

If you like to pump 'em up and you think it helps, it probably does.

Opinion -drifting bouncers, there are days on erie (30'-40') where you'll catch more with air or floats and there are days when you catch more w/o.

One thing is you might be pushing more scent out. You are making the worm have a larger profile. I do it mostly to keep the harness up a little during pauses.
