I bought a new truck. The hitch is higher than my old one. I borrowed a ball mount, and a 5" drop is perfect. I want to use a Convert a ball cushioned mount. Problem is, they no longer carry a 5" drop, its either 4" or 6". AT 5" my trailer sits perfectly level, which is ideal. Since I am going to have to go to a 4" or 6" which is better an inch higher or an inch lower?

How about an adjustable height drawbar. I have too many trailers with a 2" coupler so I bought an adjustable height drawbar so I only need one. It has been a blessing.

How about a 6" drop, with a 1" rise ball? http://www.trailerhitches.com/hitch-balls/hi-rise-hitch-balls/2inchcurthitchballwith1inchshankdiameterchrome3.cf m

Surely theres a welding shop somewhere near you, you could have them make what you want. It certainly couldnt cost all that much. There wouldnt be $10-$20 worth of material there, and maybe a half hour of their time.

Thanks, that should do it. I will get the 6" drop, and if needed a ball with the 1" rise. I didn't even know they made such a thing. Thanks.

Just be sure to check the weight rating of the 1" rise ball against your trailer weight. IIRC, that 1" rise does reduce the rating somewhat.

Was your truck loaded at the time you checked your ball height ? Maybe your truck will drop an inch when loaded and the 4 inch drop would work.

I have actually had the spare tire drag at the ramp due to too low of a drop. Just something to be aware of.

Good points to ponder. I ordered it today, should be in, in about a week. I will have to load up the back and take some measurments and see. Thanks.
I say go for the 4". If your trailer sits too low in front, there may be a bit too much weight on the tongue, and the brake actuartor could bind, and prevent the brakes from releasing. Don't ask me home I know this!
