Bought a 2002 lund with a 115 yamaha 4 stroke. I notice an unfamilar noise when trimming up the motor through the intial lower speed portion of the trim. It almost sounds as if it is very quickly cutting out and comming back on. It happens about 10-12 times as trimming up through the entire low speed portion. No noise when trimming down or when it hits the higher speed trim toward the top.
My inital guess is air in the hydraulics? Has anyone ever expierenced this and able to provide a procedure to fix.
Thanks

Hard to tell from your description but it may just need a little grease. Is it just a "creeking"/"popping" sound, if so, put a little dab of grease on each pad where the trim pistons make contact with the motor mount.

Thanks guys,
I already tried lubing where the pin pushes on the plate with no change in noise.
The guy I bought from said its always sounded like this.
I appreciate your guys input and if still looking for what the sound is and how to fix?
Thanks

My F80 does the same thing too. I have yet to figure it out too as well but other than that it still works.

Lots of folks have had noise problems with Yamaha's when trimming up. My 200 HPDI makes the noise too. I have lubed the ends of the trim rods but doesn't seem to help.

Every Yamaha I have had did this and it sould like air in the system but it did not do it all the time. To be on the safe side I would check your fluid.

Sounds like what they all do.
Like squealing bubbles? If so....that's just how they are.
Lube up the ends of the hydraulic rams and it may be quieter ...but, just for a little while.

Yep, sounds normal! Just fish, you can only really hear it when the boat is on the trailer and you are standing next to it.
