My buddy has a dilema,he has a 2007 ranger 620vs-with a 250 yami 4 stroke and a yamaha t8 kicker motor tied to the main motor. The problem is he is installing a jackplate on the main motor, with a max of 5 inch's of travel up or down. The tie rod that attach's to the kicker will bind and not work properly he think's-im not sure anyone ever done this before. The main motor has a 5 inch hydraulic jack plate setback-and trave of 5 up or down.

Experiment with some different bends in the rod connecting the two. There's usually some combination of bends that will allow it to work with a jackplate.

There will be a sweet spot, and setting the Jack plate in the sweet spot before running the kicker will become part of trolling prep.

If for some reason you can't find the bend that works, disconnect the rod between the motors when your not trolling, and hook it up with the jackplate in the sweet spot when you are.
