In a earlier post they were talking about Berkley Vanish and Sensation lines. My question is: What brand and type of line are the majority of the people fishing with? I'm getting ready to spool up 5 or 6 reels with new line this year. And I don't want to pick a line that may cause me some concern later on. Your opinion is appreciated.
Thank You.

For mono line I stick with Maxima Chameleon.

"looking for a new fishing line" is posted on the second or third page, that might give you some insight. Any relative questions, please feel free to ask. Good luck!

I'm sold on P-Line. very strong and very little memory. I've found that it works well even in cold conditions. Definitely worth a try.

3rd the powerpro. I never used to like braided line untill I started using that. I run a small bearin swivel with a 3-6ft peice of 8lb Segaur flourocarbon CARBONPRO for a leader when fishing pretty clear water. I trust both of the lines. Have caught plenty of 5-9 pike in one on the flouro leader and havent had to retie so I think its pretty trust worthy

Fishy1... Your assumption that the FFO line is seconds is incorrect.

Howdy.

My line is, Uh,Hey baby. Do you come here often? :P

Seriously, I have used Berkely products since I was 17. I use Fireline for jigging, select for casting and on the noodle (dead rods) rods and xt for trolling and bottom bouncers. In really clear water jigging, I use select as well. I am and have been playing with Fluorocarbon and marginally like it.

With Vanish (fluorocarbon), you must re spool often with spinning gear. It twists like Chubby Checker. You must re tie often. You (or at least I) must tie the knots slowly and keep them wet. I usually hang off the side of the boat and tie them underwater.

Have fun.........R

I use spider wire on my baitcaster and fireline on the spinnings reels The spider wire will not wear out and unlike some comments on wearing the eyes out. I have not had any problem with them wearing out.I use Trilene XL on my other lines that the clients use.
I don't want no cut fingers, feel safer that way.

Spinning reels -- fireline. Sometimes a vanish leader.

Baitcast reels -- Trilene XT

And for something really different, for walleyes on the fly rod I use the following lines:

Cortland 225 grain Quick Descent line (the one with the intermediate running line). Tapered mono leader, vanish tippet.

Sci. Anglers clear intermediate bonefish line. Although, I am going to be replacing this as it doesn't handle cold weather very well, and isn't very clear.

Stren Magnathin for the vast majority of my fishing. Downrigger rods, and pike/musky tackle get Spiderwire lighter baitcasters have dacron. Spinning outfits for deep jigging have Fireline. I now tie my bait rigs and spinner rigs with flourocarbon leader material(keeps my cussing skills sharp).

Stren Sensor (12#) on the trolling rods, Berkley XT (6# & 8#) on the spinning rods and Magnathin (4#) on the panfish reels. This combination has yet to let me down.

Now that I'm married, I've sworn not to use it ever again. It was certainly x-caliber, and it resulted in some great "hookups"! Played out something like this "You must be washing your clothes in Windex because I can definetly see myself in your pants". :)

I have not tried ExCaliber it ranked high in a survey in a previous post. It was strong, but its larger diameter I do not like.... I switched everything over to Sensation and Rapala Finesse this year.
