Where would I look for a used 40 - 50 hp outboard tiller? Make or model not important, but would like a 4 stroke. Thanks.

I have found that trying to find a tiller south of the Iowa border is hard. I have people calling me all the time for mine. The problem lies in shipping and any poss warranty work. We offer a warranty on our used but hard to do the work when you are a thousand miles away. See if you can find something local. Just my opinion and experience.

I was curious about the market too, checked with couple dealers here and they both indicated used 4 strokes are hard to come by, mainly because they are not being traded in for newer motors. After all, 4 strokes are fairly new and most people are very statisfied. And a tiller too? Not even 'remotely' (pun intended) likely.

This might work for you, it's new...I don't know what these go for new but this seems like a good deal!

Shipping shouldn't be an issue, a OB in the 40-50 hp range should cost in the $300 +/- range, depending on distance. As far as that goes, I'd personally drive a long ways to test out and buy a used outboard before I'd have it shipped. Your a 10hr. drive to MN, we have lots of tillers, crappie can prob hook you up. I'd drive that far for a couple thousand dollar purchase.
You should be able to find something closer though. Your not far from the sippi, check the larger river cities on craigslist, lots of tillers on the river. Or, do a dealer search in those same cities.

Thanks for all of your responses. Crappie, you're right in most cases, the distance between Oklahoma and Minnesota would be a definite negative. However, at least twice a year I do fishing trips to the northern areas. In may I will be going to Devils Lake in North Dakota(a great lake for walleye, pike, tiger muskie and white bass - BIG white bass). It's only 120 miles from Fargo, ND to Walker, MN. I would be interested in hearing more about what you have in the 40 to 50 hp range.
