I was lucky enough to get the new boat to me (05 Lund Gran Sport) on the water this last weekend It has a Verado 225 with a 19 pitch prop and was only able to get a Max of 5540 RPMs at WOT. In reading about this motor it should be at 6000 to 6100 rpm at WOT. i Tried playing with the trim but 5540 was the best it would do. i have looked at other Verado 225's at the dealers and they have a 19 pitch prop rigged on the new motors. Any recommendations would be appreciated.

Something does not sound right here. The operating rpm is like 5900 to 6400 rpm and a 19p prop on that motor should do better then that. I'm guessing you have either a 1950 Tyee or a a 2150 Baron so the next question is are you running a stainless steel prop and which one. Also you need the check your motor height and get back to us. Is the prop damaged or has it been rebuilt?

PJM You are correct I have an 1950 and I also feel pretty stupid right now because I went out to make sure what brand of SS prop I had and it is a Mercury Marine Tempest Plus 21 Pitch not a 19 Pitch that I stated earlier. The prop is suppost to be brand new because the previous owner had damaged the other prop and he told me he replaced it with a 19 pitch which it had before. I bet if I went to a 19 Pitch it would make the RPMs come up. Is that what you recommend? The center of the prop is 9" below the bottom of the boat. It appears the lower cavitation plate is even with the bottom of the boat. The bolt holes are in the 2nd from the top. Is it hard on the motor to not run to 5900 - 6400 rpm? Please give me your thoughts.

The 19 is the correct prop.

The 19p prop will make a big difference and the 21p will not be hard to sell on the site. Test the boat and get back to us.
