I am getting rod and reel combination's lined up for open water and structure trolling. I was thinking of the 7'6" medium action Shakespeare Ugly Stik Lite Inshore Casting Rods. I was going to match it with Diawa Sealine SG27LCA. Does anyone have experience with these rods for open water trolling? Do you think that will be a good rod choice?

I use 7' uglystick cal1100. They are great little rods for boards with braid migfht be a little too soft for mono but I like them and they are tough as nails!

Bill are you getting the itch to get that boat out already. The river in Menominee is starting to open up pretty good now. On your rod choice that is exactly what I picked up last year and I used the accudepth plus reels spooled with 15# trilene big game and have been very happy with them.

Thanks Scott and JJ.

JJ, I am most definitely ready to get the boat out! Spring is officially here...
