I recently went to a marine store to pick up some new plugs for my Mercury motor. I gave them the serial # and year of motor. They went to the computer and parts manual and sold me 3 NGK PZFR6H AND told me a .40 Gap. I got home and the motor had NGK IZFR5J W a .36 Gap. Did they sell me the wrong plugs? Or does Mercury now recomend a different plug. How do I find out?

 For those of you who own a 2006 115 Optimax. That is the right plug! They have changed to a hotter plug with a wider gap. Bass Man 135

Thanks for the info. I have a 06 115 and will have to remember that when I change the plugs next time.

Just called Mercury as I have an 06 115 optimax. They said to use IZFR5J plugs from NGK. Gap should be 0.36". Sounds like you did get the wrong plugs.
