well i fished yesterday and today on the Detroit River with my new to me 2000 Fisher Avenger Sport 19 8" boat and my newly installed Minnkota Terrova and man...that bow mount motor kicks ***!!! Tons of power, easy to control, food pedal is awesome and i just love it. I just thought i'd share. can't wait to put my colour humminbird fish finder on the bow and hook it up to it's interal sonar (waiting on cable to connect)

the autopilot works pretty well even on the river (unless there is lots of wind..then forget it) and with 80lbs of thrust that motor moves my almost 20ft boat with 4 guys in it upstream in the current and against the wind no problem.

I highly recommend one of these motors a) if you can find a good deal...b) if you need a new trolling motor, and c) if you have the spare cash sitting around....what a great trolling motor!!! WOOT!

Must be a sign.......I am tossing around the idea of selling my 1 year old PowerDrive V2 and upgrading to the Terrova 80/US2/AP.

I think the biggest thing you would gain is the better foot pedal that comes with the Terrova. If you run the TM with your foot pedal a lot instead of the autopilot and find the Powerdrive v2 pedal an issue then upgrading would help but if you use your copilot mostly and autopilot then I don't think spending the extra cash on a Terrova would be worth it.If your replacing a older Tm then certainly the Terrova I would recommend but to replace a 1 year old Powerdrive I would think pretty hard about it unless your in a situation where cash is not an issue in your life. Saying that I have a Terrova and love it!!!!!

Edit...If your powerdrive does not have autopilot and the universal sonar then you would be gaining a whole lot more then just the pedal and if you have the cash for the upgrade I would certainly be think about that change as you are.And would change.Autopilot is just to nice to be without for me.

My current PD has neither the AP or US2, those are the main reasons why I'm considering the purchase. An easier deploying unit wouldn't hurt either.

Had I been a more informed buyer, aka a WC member a year ago, I would have had my Ranger rigged with the Terrova before delivery.

The Terrova is a trollers dream for walleye fisherman, I can't image fishing without it ever again.

well... i am not using the Sonar yet, but as soon as my adapter gets here i will be plugging in my new humminbird for the bow. the autopilot is cool, US2 is cool too, and i ran it 2 days straight with TONS of full speed to unhook snags etc and my batteries are still over 1/2 full. that is amazing to me. each trip was 4-5 hours and i ran the motor in heavy current the whole time.

wanna hear the best part about this motor for me??? It would have cost me $2200.00 Canadian to buy one here, or buy at bass pro and import from $1500.00 plus 30% plus 13% taxes etc and i got it here for....

wait for it....

wait... :howdy:

$660.00 plus tax Canadian!!! :phatyo:It was used for 1 day prior to being returned....then the dealership forgot they had it (last summer) as it was stored upstairs...the head mechanic remembered he had it in storage and the owner gave me a HUGE deal since i was with my buddy who send 2 guys this year to buy brand new boats..plus i bought all my batteries etc from him.

So i basically scored this motor w/ AP, Sonar, US2+ for less than 1/2 the price. what can i say? the sun shines on every dogs' *** once in a while

If you hit the little rabbit at the wrong time - you can throw someone overboard - unless that is the plan :)

I just replaced my 55# power drive with an 80# Terrova with US. I picked up the add-on Auto pilot for another $230 and should be all set for soft water. Looking forward to trying it out. I have it on a 17' Crestliner so from what I'm hearing it should have enough power. At $660 Canadian you got a great deal. I bought mine for $1100 (Can) + taxes - $100 (US) promotion from Minn kota.

$1100.00 for that motor in Canada is still an awesome deal! it will DEFINITELY have enough power for that 17ft crestliner...it moves my 19 8" boat with ease even upstream in with high winds.

Man... I agree.
I have a Terrova on my 20' Lund (since Fall 2007)..AWESOME!
Still have the V-2 Auto-Pilot on my river (jon) boat....and I sure miss the ease of deployment and fast turning of the terrova when I'm using the river boat!

And since we're on the subject, in measuring the shaft length of my current motor do I measure just the shaft or the entire unit from power head to skeg?

I was thinking 60" for my Reata but the shaft itself measures closer to 54".

Edit; Ordered new Terrova 80/AP/US2 60" shaft, should have it by the weekend.

I wish I was as happy with my 101 Terrova as some of you guys. When using the wireless remote the motor responds perfectly. When using the foot pedal, it is very eratic and unresponsive. I sometimes have to stomp on the foot pedal to get the motor to respond. Its maddening. Not sure wht the problem is. MK already replaced the foot pedal as well as the circuit board in the motor.

Anybody have any ideas?

wow that sucks. i wanted to get the remote co-pilot for mine..but alas i have to buy other things first....call minnkota again i'd say..maybe you have a defective unit all together.

well my 3 other boats had trolling motors on them already, 3 minnkota's of different models so i never bothered to buy another one. only reason i got this one is my fisher didn't come with a bow mount, so i got to pick what i wanted. i sure like it a lot better than the maxxum!

Hey guys, one question I have been wondering about with regard to the problems with my foot pedal. Minn Kota tells me the motor itself must be fine since the remote works flawlessly with it. The only other thing I can think of (since I already replaced the foot pedal as well as the circuit board in the motor) is that there is a metal plate somewhere under the floor on the bow that was installed by Triton for an anchor rein. I had the dealer remove the anchor rein because it interfered with the placement of the Terrova and it was so flimsy it never would have been of any use, but I would bet the metal backing plate is still there under the bow.

Since the foot pedal is supposed to work based on some sort of magnet system, do you think the metal plate under my bow could explain the erratic foot pedal behavior?
