Hello all. I am new to this board and hoping to share some hunting and fishing stories with anyone whose interested. I live, hunt and fish primarily in Manitoba.
I usually get up to the Duck Mountains for archery Elk and find the bugs to be still quite persistent at that time of year. Just wondering what your choice of bug zapper, repellent, clothes or what have you, works best for you.

Think Thermacell, they work.
By-the-way, the biting flies are much worse in the spring. I know, I was there both last spring and last fall, hoping to see a black bear big enough to make a better than average rug.

Thanks Phil T. Will definitely be purchasing the thermacell. Camped out in the Ducks Spring and Summer as well and couldn't imagine hunting in those conditions.
Have been up close and personal with some dandy bruins the last couple of seasons while out for Elk. One decided to keep me in my tree stand about an hour longer than I wanted to be. A movie camera is definitely in the plans for this fall as well....

My outfitter has about 200 square miles under license. Still, I was there in mid May, which was too early last year. I only saw small bear in the spring, average ones in the fall. Since the cost of have a rug made makes a good down payment on another hunt, I chose to go again. Maybe next year.
There are very good bear in that area. While walking to my stand one day, one of them had marked the trail with a soda can sized turd. The outfitter and I had been there checking the baits only two hours earlier.
I want that bear! I could have lived without the wolves howling near my stand in the evenings, though.
