I've installed the lowrance 60 fuel flow meter (upright) in line to the optimax 150. For those of you that have installed this WITHOUT an additional fuel filter in front of the meter, has it worked ok? Any problems?

For those of you that installed this WITH the additional filter in front of the meter, what kind of filter did you use? Do you have to use a marine type filter, or can you use a standard automotive fuel filter? (FRAM)

Thanks for any info that you have!

I installed the EP-60 on my Lund/150 Optimax WITH an in-line filter (clear glass or plastic). I don't remember the brand name. I'll check on it though and post if I find it. The boat is in storage.

use the filter. I got lazy and tried without it, and something got in it and stopped it from working. Luckily I was able to remove the debris and its working again.

I also used one of those glass inline filters with the replaceable element.

I was going to put it after fuel water seperator filter but I wanted to monitor my kicker also and both lines come out of the seperator so that would not work

Thanks for the info guys. I looked at the attwood glass filter in the marine section at the store and the package indicated that it should not be used for fuel injected motors. I wanted to check here first before I bought it because I don't want it to choke out the motor.

Perchjerker, I have the fuel water/sep filter, but on the 150 opti, its under cowl and you can't install upstraem of that, so the options are to add another water/sep filer, or "other"....

Any action on the detroit river yet?

Thanks again.

So, any of you out there running an optimax with lowrance flow sensor and additional fuel filter? What kind have you used?

Thanks.

Read your Opti manual i think it says no extra filters. It slows down the fuel flow. Wiredog

I've only got 60 or 70 hrs. on my rig, but I have the Lowrance fuel flow sensor and an in line fuel filter right before it installed on my Alumacraft with an Opti 150. Don't recall the brand, but bought the filter from an auto parts store and it seems to work fine. Also have the smartcraft gauge and the filter and fuel flow sensor did not seem to cut down fuel flow . G.P.H. at w.o.t. are still the same as before adding them.
